COLLEEN KEIHM breaks down the mechanics of the camera using digital and analog processes. She has been fabricating vortoscopes and stereoscopes while making images  through them. Her mouth camera produces images that describe the spaces she wants her voice to inhabit. These practices alter the physics of sight in the hopes of seeing more clearly. Keihm came to Chicago by way of Philadelphia for graduate school at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Since graduation she has been an educator at Wilbur Wright College and University of Illinois at Chicago and is currently the Executive Director of LATITUDE Chicago. She has been a resident at Hatch Projects at CAC, Studio 3325 in Logan Square, and the Insitut fur alles Mogliche in Berlin, Germany. She is a part of the Midwest Photographers Project, the collection of the Art Institute, and was recently acquired by the Museum of Contemporary Photography in Chicago. In 2019, Keihm will have her first US solo show at Roman Susan in Chicago, IL.
